I guess my question is, in terms of wealth investment and/or accumulation, would it be better to: a) Invest in a large asset in UK with (hopefully) future returns and a place to live or rent out. b) Accumulate the liquid asset of cash for some years and continually save money, with the option to simply jump from country to country according to economic opportunity. I am not married and don't have any dependents, the only debt I have is my student loan, and I don't have anything specifically tying me to staying in the UK.

I'm speaking as a South Asian teacher here who recently returned from Vietnam after a 6 week internship. I'm just shocked to see the overwhelming preference for western "native" speakers as English teachers there. Like in every Facebook group or ad that they put up advertising vacancies for English teachers, it is for the Western nations like the USA, UK, Australia etc. and nothing else. I was speaking with a great Vietnamese friend of mine who has been in the job teaching English for 10 years and has a Master's degree, plus the decade-long experience, but he says that the backpacking Westerners who come and teach for a week still get more daily wages than him. And he says he still can't do anything about it. He has been teaching in multiple centres in the town that I had lived in those 6 weeks for sometime now and has returned here after finding that most centres in Hanoi don't even want people like him anymore. Apparently, parents are "afraid" of the "bad influence" or "fear" that the kids may have if they are not being taught by a Westerner.

Currently, I am 28, unemployed, and back living with parents for the time being. I am really struggling to find work in London in my field (digital marketing) due to the high numbers of applicants for all vacancies. I have ~£23k sitting in an ISA not doing much, which I have thought about using as a deposit for a house after topping it up a bit more to around £30k once I start earning again. I also have a CELTA (teaching English as a foreign language) qualification and a year's experience which allows me to find work easily in many different countries. Obviously that isn't an option right now, but once borders and countries start reopening I am seriously considering teaching again. I'm struggling to see the positives of settling down in the UK, with the current job market and also post-Brexit. So, I could either find work in London, top up my savings, and get a mortgage on a house somewhere within commuting distance of London. Or, I could live and work in Asia, earn a high wage compared to cost of living, and just continuously and reliably save ~$500 per month (depending on the country), all with a higher standard of living that I could afford in London.

They pay amazingly well. Self Employed - These require a lot more work to get started and the pay will not be great for a while. However, if you do build a following, you could end up moving beyond the classroom and earning more money. I wouldn't exactly quit my job for one of these but maybe try it out in the meantime. Outschool "A platform for teachers to organize, promote, and deliver online all learners up to age 18. " I suggest clicking on the Popular Classes at the bottom of the page to get an idea of the kinds of classes teachers teach on there. It's really varied. StreamWork Online tutor streaming site. There are several of these but this one is actually paying $5 for every 15 minutes you stream. Not great but buys a nice dinner after a week. Skillshare This one is more focused on skills and creating a specific project. Feel free to add ideas and I'll update if I find anything notable. Edit: Added Tutors International

). If any of you that are currently working in the industry have any tips or any personal recommendations of paths you took to your current job role I would greatly appreciate your help. I've included my details not for self promotion but just to give people an idea of what experience I have already so I don't waste anyone's time giving me irrelevant advice. I'd just love to be in a role where I can share my passion and learn from people with more knowledge than myself and even if that's not the first step I have to take I'd just like to know I'm heading in the right direction. To any one that replies thank you so much for taking the time, any advice or pointers will be appreciated so much.
