While the position (maintenance technician) is technically a "lower" position than I have now (cybersecurity), it would give me a different perspective of the same projects I currently work, and possibly open up higher paying employment opportunities within my company. In September of 2017, I applied for the position via our internal job posting site. Within a day or two of submitting my application I was called to HR to further discuss. With my current knowledge, experience, and skill-set, HR said that they and the hiring managers were thrilled that I applied and began asking about how early I would be able to transition from my current job to the new position. For a few weeks, there was continued communication about the job, including typical base pay rate, international relocation packages, etc. During one of our last meetings, they all but said that I was the target for the job and they needed to get some paperwork together for an offer. Following these conversations, HR essentially went radio silent on me.

Yes! At Projects Abroad, our first aim is to benefit the communities we work in. You can be assured that your Nursing Project is ethical, well supported, and part of a better future. All of our Medicine & Healthcare Projects are guided by a comprehensive code of conduct policy, as we take the safety of our volunteers, interns, and the people they work with very seriously. Our Projects are also structured in a way that you'll still make a real impact, even if you're only there for a short time. Our blog about short-term volunteering explains how we facilitate this. Here are a few more elements of our work that set it apart from other overseas nursing placements: Recording our work in a secure database We created a Global Impact Database so we can track the positive impact our Projects have. This is a secure and anonymous database that we use to identify specific areas of need. It allows us to use data to shape medical outreaches and health awareness programmes. We can also monitor individuals we see often, report our results, and collect data for research.

After getting the taste of the field of Psychology, I came to the understanding of this not being the field I am overly interested in. I am looking for a more engaging work with children. I want to work with children. This was the very reason I came to the UK. In the Czech Republic, I studied to be a Car Mechanic, but I did not get a job in the field. Afterwards, it was impossible for me to go to study again and get a qualification allowing me to work with children. I wanted to work with children and study in this field in the first place, but studying something else, faster and promising to get a reasonable chance of employment, was my priority to get away from my abusive parents. But later on, I found out it is possible to go abroad to the UK, start working with children straight away and still being able to study distance learning courses at the same time! I want to work as a Nurse for Children and Young People because it has for me the positive vibe of engaging, supporting and rewarding job, which does actually have the possibility to make things better and safe children's lives.
